Evelyn I. Montano

Evelyn Iva Montano, 70, of Cheshire, formerly of Hamden, loving wife of James Montano, passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2026. She was born in New Haven on March 30, 1956, daughter of the late Otto and Evelyn (Clark) Donath. In addition to her husband James, Evelyn is survived by her son, Matthew Montano, his wife, Allison, and her grandson, Otto. Evelyn resided in Hamden for over 30 years before moving to Cheshire, where she and James raised their family. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Congregational Church in Hamden and Order of the Eastern Star Mystic Chapter #20 in Cheshire, where she served as Past Matron and Organist.

Friends are invited to visit with Evelyn’s family on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Masonic O.E.S. Ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
