Evelyn Blackwood Seekins, 87, beloved wife of 68 years to Kenneth Seekins, passed away on December 27, 2007. She was born in Portland, Maine on August 14, 1920 to the late Burnham and Elna Blackwood Russell. Besides her husband, Evelyn leaves her sons and daughters-in-law, Clay and Jane Seekins of Wallingford and Ronald and Katherine Seekins of Sarasota, FL, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is predeceased by her siblings and son Kenneth Seekins, Jr. After growing up in Maine and marrying the love of her life, Evelyn and Ken moved to Connecticut in 1957. She worked as an Assistant Supervisor for Prudential Life Insurance for 30 years. After retiring she enjoyed her time as a volunteer at the Church Street School Library in Hamden. This gave her an opportunity to share her love of books with others. Evelyn was the most loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, friend and grandmother. She will be remembered lovingly by all who new her, but mostly for her eagerness to help anyone at any given time with anything. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Dec. 30th from 3 to 5 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. Burial will take place in Maine.
