Florence M. (Patterson) Jefferson, age 98, of New Haven, formerly of West Haven for most of her life, passed away on July 30, 2017. Florence was born in New Haven on December 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Walter & Florence (Trecartin) Patterson-Donavan. She was the widow of Charles W. Jefferson, Sr. and sister of the late Lorraine Vercerllone, Dorothy Fucci, Walter and Wilbur Patterson. Florence is survived by her daughter Beverly (Jefferson) Madeska & her husband Eugene of Branford; her sons Charles Jefferson, Jr. & his wife Susan of West Haven and Kenneth Jefferson Sr. & his wife Judith of North Haven; grandchildren Tamre Mockus, Tracey Gajewski, Janet Jefferson, Charles Jefferson, Craig Jefferson, Kenneth Jefferson Jr., Deana Jefferson-Smith, Maureen Kos, Dave Kos & Maureen Demery; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was a longtime member of the former Christ Episcopal Church in West Haven. Florence was employed by the West Haven Board of Education working in food services. She was a member of the Eastern Star Golden Rod Chapter #34 of West Haven, holding the position of Chaplain, and was the recipient of their Addie Award. Florence's family would like thank the Mary Wade Staff on K2 for all their care and compassion extended to Florence over the years. Friends may visit with her family at Beecher & Bennett - Taylor Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Ave, West Haven on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and may attend her Funeral Service that will begin at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private in the Urn Garden at the Church. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Mary Wade Home Resident Cheer Fund, 118 Clinton Ave., New Haven, CT 06513.
