Obituary

Florence 'Rusty' L. Cooper, 80, passed away on November 17, 2012. Born in New Haven on September 10, 1932 to the late Harry and Janet (Mills) Cooper. Rusty was a long time resident of North Haven and Hamden. As a young adult, Rusty completed a course with the Dale Carnegie Institute. This lead her to Executive Administrative positions with: Wallingford Steel in Wallingford and Sikorski Aircraft in Stratford. She was a long time member of the North Haven Congregational Church, where she held positions on many committees as well as participated in their choir. Her church work continued with a part-time office position at the Mount Carmel Congregational Church in Hamden. Rusty resided for many years at the Davenport Dunbar Senior Housing facility. She especially enjoyed participating in their chapter of the Red Hat Society. Rusty is survived by her niece, Karen (Mullen) Sylvia of Port St. Lucie FL and her nephews, Thomas Mullen of Marshfield, MA and Brian Mullen of New Britain. Friends may visit with her family on Saturday, November 24th from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's memory may be sent to Aurora Senior Living of New Britain (formerly Brittany Farms) 400 Brittany Farms Road, New Britain CT. 06053.
