Francis J. ''Chief'' Leddy, In Hamden, Feb. 22, 2002, Francis J. ''Chief'' Leddy of 210 Hillfield Rd., husband of the late Lois Whitham Leddy. He was born in New Haven, Sept. 10, 1921, a son of the late Vincent J. and Anna Rancourt Leddy. A graduate of Hamden High School,he trained at the Winchester Trade School. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the Navy. He joined the Hamden Fire Department after the service and after 42 years in the department he retired in 1987 as Deputy Chief. Mr. Leddy was a member of the American Legion, the USS LSM-LSMR Shipmates Association and a former member of the Hamden Fish & Game Club. He was a fisherman, hunter and enjoyed small craft boating. As an avid fan of youth sports he traveled with the Hamden High School Hockey Team and helped with their equipment. ''Chief'' Leddy is survived by a daughter, Sally L. Nutcher and her husband Roger of Hamden, sons; James F. Leddy and his wife Joanne of Hamden and Thomas J. Leddy and his wife Nancy of Madison. Also survived by 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, former Fire Chief V. Paul Leddy. Funeral service from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN, Monday, Feb. 25, at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Friends may call Sunday from 4 - 8 P.M.
