Frank J. Rack, M. D., passed away May 19, 2004 in Hamden, CT. Born June 25, 1917 in Cleveland, OH. son of the late Marcel and Margaret Muhic Rack, he is survived by his daughter Rita Rack, son-in-law, Jean-Christophe Agnew and grandaughter, Winnie Agnew of New Haven, as well as nephews Dr. Albert Zippert of Cleveland and Donald Zippert of Grand Junction, CO. and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife of 39 years, Rita Marie Gannon Rack and his second wife of 17 years, Elba Lugo Rack, his sister Josephine Rack Little, and his brother, Dr. Marcel Rack. A graduate of Catherial Latin High School, John Carroll University and Westeran Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, he trained in surgery at Cleveland City Hospital. Dr. Rack served as a surgeon in the United States Army in Europe durning the Second World War. He spent his entire professional life in Cleveland, particularly at Deaconess Hospital, and held a teaching appointmentat the Medical School. He was board certified in surgery and belonged toa number of professional organizations. An enthusiastic world traveler, amateur musician and voracious reader, he will be sorely missed.
