Frederick O. Trutnau, age 93, of Hamden, passed away suddenly on January 4, 2018. Born in New Haven on July 26, 1924, he was a son of the late Rudolph & Louise (Hoepfner) Trutnau. Frederick was predeceased by his wife Winifred (Kretz) Trutnau, his sister Ruth deCastillia, & brother Rudolph Trutnau. He is survived by his children, Paul F. Trutnau of Berkeley, CA, Ellen T. Moore & her husband Christian of East Earl, PA; and Christopher E. Trutnau of Wallingford; grandchildren, Jason Strange, Lauren Johnson, and Caitlin & Kara Trutnau, and several nieces & nephews. Frederick was a tool & die maker, retired from the Schick Corp. after 26 years of service. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran, a member of the Masons for over 67 years, a Past Master of their Connecticut Rock Lodge, a member of the New Haven Chorale, and a member of the National Camper Travelers, where he served as their Chaplain. Frederick was a devoted parishioner of Christ Lutheran Church in Hamden for many years and was a soloist in their choir. He also enjoyed playing golf and creating stained glass suncatchers. Friends may visit with his family on Monday, Jan, 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. During that time a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM followed by his Funeral Service with Rev. Owen Sanderson & Rev. William Lee officiating. Burial with Military Honors will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 10th at 11:00 AM in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Section S, Hamden.
