Gail M.
Schuler
September 7, 1937 – June 5, 2025
Gail Margaret Schuler, 87, beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Schuler, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at MidState Medical Center, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
Gail is lovingly remembered by her sons, Paul Schuler of Highlands Ranch, CO, David Schuler and his wife Arline of Ashland, MA, and Mark Schuler of Hamden. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Grace, Jacob (Tati), Liam, and Adam Schuler; her brother John (Jan) Lindsay; her niece Anne (Dan) Laffin, and nephew Jack (Kevin) Lindsay.
Born in New Haven on September 7, 1937, Gail was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Barry Lindsay. A lifelong resident of Hamden, she and Jack built a beautiful life together, raising their family in the community they cherished.
Gail graduated from Albertus Magnus College in 1959 and began her career as an elementary school teacher in Hamden. After the birth of her first son, Paul, she embraced motherhood with her whole heart, devoting herself to raising her children with love, humor, and boundless energy. Later in life, she returned to school and earned a master's degree in special education from Southern Connecticut State University. Her compassion and dedication led her to work in group homes throughout the Greater New Haven area, where she provided a supportive and nurturing environment for residents with special needs.
Gail had a radiant sense of humor and zest for life that could light up any room. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She and Jack were founding members of St. Joan of Arc Church in Hamden, where Gail was a devoted parishioner and a cherished member of the choir for decades. Her love of music, especially singing and playing the piano, was a gift she shared generously.
She found joy in painting, the beauty of nature, and especially the beach—her favorite place to relax and reflect. Above all, Gail treasured her family. She adored her children and grandchildren and shared a deep, enduring love with Jack, her husband of 57 years.
Friends are invited to celebrate Gail's life during her Memorial Mass at St. Paul VI Parish in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Thursday, June 12th at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, in care of arrangements.
