George Joseph Berey, 88, loving husband of 65 years to Catherine Iacuone Berey, passed away suddenly January 13, 2018. George leaves behind his daughter Linda Morcaldi and her husband Vincent of Hamden, son Robert Berey of Naugatuck, and son David Berey and his wife Cathy of Glastonbury. Beloved grandfather of Vincent Morcaldi, Dana Morcaldi, Christina Berey, Nick Berey, Ben Berey, and Laura Berey Sweeney and her husband Jake. He was predeceased by sisters, Rose Magda and Teresa Gargano, and a brother Leon Berey. He was born in Shelton, CT May 1, 1929; a son of the late Peter and Caroline Taragna Berey, and had proudly served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. George was employed with the B. F. Goodrich Rubber Co. as a shipping foreman and Klarides Supermarkets for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the New York Yankees and New York Jets, and going to the casinos.
