At his home, May 29, 2006, George "DoDo" H. Schlayer, 90, of Judson Ave., New Haven, husband of the late Evelyn Schipper Schlayer, among his nieces and nephews are Elene Barsczewski, Christine Brooks, Barbara Kahn, William Bergmann and Herbert Hill. He was predeceased by sisters, Minnie Schlayer, Annie Schlayer Hill, Christine Schlayer Bergmann, Elizabeth Schlayer, Pauline Schlayer Amour, Martha Schlayer and brothers, William, Richard and Charles Schlayer. George was born in New Haven, Aug. 20, 1915 a son of the late Charles and Barbara Koch Schlayer. During WW II he served overseas the US Army. He retired from Yale University in 1991 where he worked in the Library. Prior to working at Yale he was a meter collector for the New Haven Police Dept. He was a longtime member of the Church of the Redeemer in New Haven, and a member of the Grassy Hill Country Club, the Village Unity League and the New Haven Senior Bowling League. Funeral service Thursday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven.
