Grace Rose Gertz, 94, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2018 at Arden House. She was the wife of the late Arthur Gertz. Grace was born in New Haven on December 19, 1923 to the late Antonio and Mary Ciccarelli Nazzaro. She grew up in New Haven before moving to Hamden as a teenager. She went on to live in New York and Florida before moving back to Hamden, where she resided for the past 9 years. Besides enjoying crossword puzzles, Grace loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered by her children, Linda Saars of Hamden and Arthur Gertz III of Hackelbury, AL; grandchildren, Adam Saars, Laura Calamo, Karen and William Gertz, and Jennifer Genito; her seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Jane Gertz; and Special Goddaughter, Grace Papa. Predeceased by her son-in-law, Dennis Saars; and siblings, Mary Petrillo and Benjamin Nazzaro. Grace's family would like to thank the staff at Arden House for their wonderful care over the years. A Funeral Service celebrating Grace's life will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, August 31st at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
