Obituary

Gwen L. Lacoske, 55, of Meriden, passed away on April 2, 2020. She was born in Meriden on July 10, 1964, a daughter of Anne Bystrek Lacoske and the late Jere Lacoske. Besides her mother Anne, she is survived by her loving daughters Jessica Fedina and Ashley Gudrian, both of Middletown, and brothers Jere Lacoske and his wife Koren of Waterford, and Brett Lacoske and his wife Kelley of Deep River. Gwen graduated from The School of Hairdressing and Cosmetology at H.C. Wilcox High School, which was an early showing of her creativity in life. She had a passion for baking and was an amazing cake decorator; there was never a birthday without a homemade cake. She loved holidays; a time with lots of decorations and even more gifts, a trait she passed on to her two daughters, who were her world, and was always doing her best to make those days special even when times were tough. She loved with everything she had, even when she didn't have a lot. That's one of the most beautiful things that moms can do; make the most out of the least, and Gwen had that superpower. She was always making things and taking on D.I.Y projects and was always eager to share her knowledge with others. One of her best and most notable traits, besides her great-smelling lotions and perfumes, was her sense of humor; she was always the funniest person in the room and joked about everything. She loved to make people laugh, whether it was a stranger she met while working as a veterinarian, or her own family and friends. She would remember the names of all the pets and their owners who came in, and loved to crack up her co-workers. Taking care to make sure that each person and the animals that she loved felt safe and welcome was just her nature, and she prided herself on the relationship that she had with each of her clients. Gwen loved music; she loved pop music from all decades, but Lynyrd Skynyrd was her absolute favorite. She loved the beach as well, Rocky Neck was a place of many momentous occasions in her life. All of these things make up a woman who was such a strong person, who gave these beautiful and amazing traits to her daughters to carry on. People see Gwen in her children, and those things are often the things people love most about them; what came from mom. She was like that. She gave all the best parts of herself to those around her. Services are being privately held and are under the direction of Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home.
