Harold Robert Hafner, age 83, of Royal Lane, Orange, passed on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009. Harold is the husband for 57 years of Jeannette Timpson Hafner. Born in Shelton on October 20, 1926 he was a son of the late Christian F. and Elsie Schultz Hafner. A graduate of Yale University in 1950, he was a retired Chemist for the Von Roll Isola Company, formerly Acme Chemical Co., in New Haven and a member of the American Chemical Society. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carol Heller and her husband Joseph of Durham; sons, Robert Hafner of Hamden, Bruce Hafner and his wife Joanne of Newark, Delaware; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Cody and Keegan Hafner, Jennifer and Timothy Heller. Harold was predeceased by his brother Edwin Hafner. He served in the US Army during WW II. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and summers on Crescent Lake in Maine and was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist in New Haven. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service in BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.
