In Middletown, CT, May 21, 2003, Rev. Harold DeWitte Yarrington of 912 Ridgewood Rd., husband of Barbara Maturo Yarrington and the late Betty Sparn Yarrington. Born in Wilmington, DE, March 27, 1918, a son of the late Clifford and Mae Potts Yarrington. A graduate of Shelton College, he received a Masters Degree from New York University in Educational Psychology in 1953. He was ordained in 1937 and was the founder and pastor for 20 years of Mennonite Missions in Newark and Trenton, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, Binghamton and Brooklyn, NY and served Mennonite Church in Jersey City and Staten Island before coming to the Evangelical Covenant Church in New Haven in 1970. Rev. Yarrington served as Chaplain at the Community Correctional Center on New Haven and was the Director of Chaplaincy service at the Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown.He was active in many Counseling and Chaplaincy organizations helping people in crisis in family and personal situations. Rev. Yarrington is the father of Betty Lorraine Svirsko of Annville, PA and Harold D. Yarrington of East Hampton, CT, brother of Evelyn Morgan and Winifred Dalton both of Wilmington, DE, grandfather of Joseph Yarrington, Alesha and Michael Svirsko, stepfather of Colleen Maturo of New Haven. Step-grandfather of Anthony Murano and Andrew Maturo. Predeceased by a brother Rodman Yarrington. Funeral service at the Evangelical Covenant Church,Wednesday, May 28 at 11 A.M.
