Harriett Wiese Schmidt, 90, wife of the late Edward W. Schmidt, formerly of Hamden and Cheshire passed away Thursday April 24, 2003 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born in Cheshire April 13, 1913 a daughter of the late N. Edward and Harriett Teller Wiese and was a 50 year member of the Mount Carmel Congregational Church. Harriett enjoyed her membership with the Cheshire Seniors and the Hillside Village Assoc. Sunshine Club. She is survived by two sons; William E. Schmidt and his wife, Patricia of West Haven, The Rev. Nicholas Brie of Taneytown, MD, a sister Catharin Eliason of Northford, 4 granddaughters; Ann Louise Schmidt, Lauretta Dowling, Greta Heath, Heidi Law, 6 great-grandchildren; Michael, Steven, and Daniel Dowling, Jordan and Caitlin Law, and Tom Heath. Also survived by a sister-in-law Elsie Berkmoes of Southington and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schmidt was predeceased by 2 sisters; Helen Boynton, Frances Erickson and a brother, Edward Wiese. Funeral service Tuesday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmel Congregational Church. Rev. Douglas H. House will officiate. Burial in Hillside Cemetery.
