Obituary

Hazel Pedersen Hansen, 97, wife of the late Leonard Hansen of 150 Cook Hill Rd., passed away Sunday February 8, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Haven September 28, 1911 a daughter of the late Christopher and Anna Rasmussen Pedersen, and resided in Hamden for 46 years before moving to Cheshire in 1985. She was employed by the Orange Board of Education as secretary to the superintendant for 17 years prior to her retirement in 1973. Mrs. Hansen was a lifeling member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Woodbridge, and served as organist there for 30 years. She is survived by a daughter Arlene Murphy -Hansen of Clearwater, FL, a son Harley L. Hansen and his wife Elaine Hansen of Cromwell, CT, her beloved sister Mae Pedersen Day Ward of Danvers, MA. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Laura Reinert and her husband Thomas Reinert, Robin Tucker, Richard T. Murphy, Jr., Alain Robitaille, 2 great- grandchildren, Keith Reinert, James R. Tucker, IV, and a great- great-granddaughter Cadence Reinert. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother Albert Pedersen, and her son-in-law Richard T. Murphy, Sr. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday Feb. 12, at 2 pm in the Nelson Hall of the Elim Park Baptist Home, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire. Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE. HAMDEN. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be sent to the Benevolent Fund, c/o Elim Park, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410, or to the Franciscian Home Care & Hospice Care, 267 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451.
