Obituary

Henry Bates Lauder, 75, of 16 Taylor Ave., Madison, passed away at MidState Medical Center on May 21, 2005 surounded by his loving family. Husband of Harriet Radtke Lauder for 54 years. Born in Meriden July 9, 1929 to the late Percy and Hazel Johnson Lauder. Father of Michael Lauder and his wife, Carlyn of Southington, Timothy Lauder and his wife, Lisa of Oxford, and Hank Lauder, Jr. of Madison. Grandfather of Emily and Steven Lauder of Southington, Morgan and Taylor Lauder of Oxford and Kevin and Jonathon Lauder of Madison. Brother of Ellsworth Lauder of Key Largo, Florida, Joan Dickinson of Key Largo, Florida, Virginia Brainerd of Wallingford, William Lauder of Anchorage, Alaska, and Nancy Skiados of Meriden. Also, many nieces and nephews. Henry was a graduate of Wilcox Technical High School and a lifelong resident of Meriden until he moved to Madison 2 years ago. He proudly served his country for three years while in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with D&R Johnson Carpentry out of West Hartford where he built McDonald restaurants throughout Connecticut and the surrounding states. Besides his family Henry loved working with wood. He enjoyed building Shaker furniture. His latest project , a wooden letter opener, was a favorite of his and a gift to many. Mr. Lauder was a 40 year member of Meridian Lodge #77 A.F. & A.M. of Meriden and a 32 degree Member of the Scottish Rite. A Memorial Service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 201 West Main St., Meriden, Saturday, May 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral arrangments with BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
