Irene Moriarty

Irene "Rennie" Moriarty, 79, passed away on May 12, 2026 at Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford, CT. She was born on April 20, 1947, daughter of the late George W. Bugler, Sr. and Irene Podgorski Bugler. She was a graduate of Lowell High School Class of 1964, Lowell State College (now UMASS Lowell) Class of 1968, and received a Master's degree from CCSU. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 35 years at Benjamin Franklin School in Meriden, CT. She retired in 2023, but continued to volunteer there. She was a member of the Meriden Federation of Teachers Retirees, the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority Chapter, and the Pattaconk Yacht Club in Chester, CT.

She is survived by her brothers, George (Judy) Bugler, John Bugler, and Robert (Denise) Bugler, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, William L. Moriarty, brothers, Ronald and Richard Bugler, and sister-in-law, Lizabeth Schmitz. Irene is also survived by cherished godsons, Ryan Bugler, Kevin Mattingly, and Joshua Niland.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Irene's family on Wednesday, May 20th from 10-11 a.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
