Obituary

James W. Barker, 86, husband of the late Emily Rankin Barker, of Linden Ave. Westbrook, formerly of Killingworth passed away Thursday Nov. 28, 2002 in CT Hospice. Brother of Jean Hunter of Pompton Lakes, NJ and the late Andrew J. and Robert W. Barker, uncle of Emily Strunk of Wayne, NJ and dear friend of Betty Crolley of Clinton. He was born in New Haven Aug. 29, 1916 a son of the late Andrew and Annie Webster Barker he served in the USAF Technical Training Command during WW II. He was a service station proprietor, having operated gas stations on Whalley Ave. in Westville for 11 years and another on Whitney Ave in North Haven for 8 years. Mr. Barker was a warranty claims analyst for Saab Motors in Orange until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Haven, a member of Wooster Lodge #79, A.F. & A. M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Lafayette Consistory of Bridgeport, Lodge Council Chapter Valley of New Haven, Past Patron Excelsior Chapter # 3 O.E.S., Past Royal Patron of Chatham Court #24 Deep River Order of the Amarants and B.P.O.E. Lodge #1784 of Westbrook. Funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
