James Paul Mourt, 86, beloved husband of 61 years to Joann Schnelle Mourt of Northford, passed away January 1, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born in Binghamton, NY May 23, 1936, a son of the late Paul J. and Cora Altenweg Mourt, and graduated from Clarkson College with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a tire engineer at Armstrong Rubber and Perrelli Tire of West Haven for many years, and prior to his retirement he worked at Algonquin Industries. Jim was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church and had formerly attended Trinity Lutheran and Christ Lutheran Church, where he served on several committees and was known for always being there to help others. He also enjoyed being a member of the Branford Town Band, gardening, and reading.
He was a loving father to Paul J. Mourt and his wife Maureen Mourt of Hatfield, PA and the late Donna Herassme. Grandfather of Andrew, Melanie and Justin Mourt, Christopher, Ryan and Joelle Herassme. He was predeceased by his sister Sofia Moore.
