James J. Romandetti, 83, passed away Sunday November 15th, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Grace Cermola Romandetti. Jim fought a courageous battle against congestive heart failure for many years. Born in New Haven on Feb. 1, 1926 he was a son of the late John & Beatrice Lombardi Romandetti. He Served in Europe during WWII, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After the war he became co-owner of Polio's Dairy Products in New Haven along with his brother Anthony. People from near and far would come to buy their cheese. After selling his business of 22 years he then worked and retired from the construction field with Blakeslee. Jim was a past president of Paradise Country Club. Besides his wife Jim is also survived by 4 children; John Romandetti, Belle Taylor, Susan Proto & Beatrice Zavorskas, 10 grandchildren; Kristin, Susan, Eric, Brian, Matthew, Jonathan, Kyle, James, Stephanie & Joseph, a brother; Anthony Romandetti and his sister Belle Carbone, all who will miss him dearly. His funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden on Thursday Nov. 19, 2009 at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd. Hamden. Friends may also visit with his family at the funeral home Thursday Morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Interment in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven will follow his Funeral Mass.
