Jane I. Bonyai, 94, of Masonicare in Wallingford, formerly of Hamden, passed away November 8, 2021. Born in New Haven August 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William Harland and Olive Newton Adams. Loving mother of Susan Sobolewski of Branford, Marianne and her husband William Stevenson of Simsbury, and Daniel Bonyai of Branford. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren; Thomas Sobolewski, Jennifer Pepe, Michael Sobolewski, Kari Sobolewski, Aron Stevenson, Rebecca Stevenson, Sarah Stevenson, and Dionna Arango, and 13 great-grandchildren; Jackie, Nicholas, Rachel, Christina, Ethan, Caleb, Billy, Anthony, Adam, Jane, Aubrey, Jordan, and Thiago. Predeceased by her two sons, Douglas A. and David D. Bonyai, two grandsons, Adam Stevenson and David Bonyai, and her brother, William H. Adams, Jr.

Jane lived most of her life in Hamden before relocating to Florida for 15 years, finally returning north 6 years ago to reside in Wallingford. She was a Past Matron and member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 76 for over 50 years, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. Jane stayed active for as long as she was able and often enjoyed square dancing, going bowling, and playing tennis and card games. She also volunteered with several different organizations.

Friends are invited to visit with Jane's family from 9-10 a.m. Friday, November 12 ^th at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
