Jane R. Nolan, 92, of Hamden died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on March 3rd, 2011. Jane was born in Hamden, February 2nd, 1919 to John H. & Mae Daly Nolan. She graduated from Centerville School and was a member of the 1st graduating class from Hamden High School in 1936. She went on to graduate from New Haven State Teachers College, now S.C.S.U. in 1940. Jane began her teaching career in Center School, North Haven where she taught 5th grade from 1940-45. She went on to teach in Helen Street School in Hamden from 1945 until her retirement in 1976. After her retirement, she worked part time in her family's business, Hamden Monument Co. Jane is survived by her loving nieces and nephews and their families; Shirley Nolan (Paul Montano), John & Cathy Nolan, Michael & Judy Nolan, Betty & George Wooster, Peggy & Bill O'Connor and Mary Nolan Foster. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews; Jane & Danny Tu, Michele Montano, Rob, Justin, Danielle, Megan, Donna & Michael R. Nolan, George Wooster, Bill & Tim O'Connor, Bobby & Katie Foster; furthermore Jane is survived by 5 great great nieces and nephews, Robert A. Nolan, Dylan & Rachel Tu and Quinn & Zoe Nolan; Jane also leaves a sister-in-law Catherine Nolan and her very loving caregiver, Aldona Kurapka. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by siblings Robert F., Mary E. and Anne M. Nolan and a nephew Raymond Foster Jr. Jane took great pride in being a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where she served as a trustee, a member of the Marian Guild and secretary of the Central Burying Ground Association. Her funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Monday, March 7, at 9:30 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends may also visit with her family at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
