Jane Ellen Thomson (Hull) of West Haven, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT where she had a brief stay. Jane was born in New Haven, CT on March 13, 1932 to the late Lillian McGuire Mulvey and Henry W. Hull. She was married to Donald Thomson, a WWII vet, in 1950, and they made their home on Lake Avenue in West Haven for 55 years, where they raised their 6 children. Jane was predeceased by her husband and her children Donna Kohler (Paul) and Donald Clifford Thomson (Joyce). She is survived by four children; Carol Thomson, Patricia Bellmore (Bruce), Barbara Pellicano (John), and Maureen Cavallaro (Sal), 12 grandchildren; Christine Thomson, Karl Kohler, Gregory Kohler, Kevin Thomson, Dionna Arango, Thomas Bellmore, Micheline Bellmore, Tess Pellicano, Steven Pellicano, Christopher Cavallaro, Kelly Cavallaro, and Matthew Cavallaro, and one great-grandchild, Thiago Arango, as well as many loving friends.
Jane was very active in the West Haven community for many years as a member of the Edgar C. Stiles School PTA, Our Lady of Victory Ladies' Guild, West Haven Democratic Women's Club, and the WH Laurel Women's Club. In addition, she was a member and past Matron of Golden Rod Chapter #34 OES. Over the years, she formed many long-lasting close friendships with members of her community.
Jane worked for Yale New Haven Hospital as an aide for 25 years before retiring from there. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering her time with the OLOV clothes closet and occasionally watching her grandchildren. Jane was truly a kind and generous person, willing to help those who needed her, in any way she could. Her legacy is all the people who loved her and the wonderful family she and Don created.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Tuesday, August 27th from 4-7 p.m. at the Porto Funeral Home, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven. A service by Golden Rod Chapter #34 OES will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated directly at St. John XXIII Parish-St. John Vianney Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd., Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
