Obituary

MERIDEN --Jane Dibble Tracy, 86, passed away at her home on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003. Born Nov. 9, 1916, daughter of the late Lillie Clarke Kneringer and Lewis Acker Dibble, she grew up in Naugatuck. She was one of five children. Jane graduated from Saint Margaret's School in 1935. She graduated from Smith College in 1939 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received a degree in library science from Pratt Institute in 1940. She was employed by the New York and Greenwich Public Libraries. Jane married William M. Tracy in 1941 and they have resided in Meriden since 1949. Jane was a longtime volunteer with the Well Child Clinic and the visitation program of the Visiting Nurses Association of Meriden. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church. She is survived by her husband and three sons, William M. Tracy, Jr. of Standish, Maine, Davis C. Tracy of Garnders, PA, and Thomas N. Tracy of Portland, Maine and their wives; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Dibble Schenk of Southbury; and her brother, John D. Dibble of Middlebury. Jane was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Lewis A. Dibble, Jr. and Nancy Dibble Heyniger. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 62 Colony St., Meriden, CT 06451, on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First Congregational Church or the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care Program, 269 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are with Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
