Obituary

Janet A. Lawshe of North Haven died Feb.24, 2006. Born in New Haven on March 1, 1937 a daughter of the late Frank and Louise Gallo Fucci. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 1959. Mrs. Lawshe earned graduate credits in Art and Special Education. She taught elementary school in Maryland where she designed and coordinated pilot teaching programs. She also taught in the Hamden Public Schools and provived special education tutoring in the Cheshire School System. Mrs. Lawshe worked as an adjunct instructor at Gateway-Community Technical College in New Haven. She was a member of both the Grand Avenue Congregational Church and Colesville Methodist Church (Maryland) for many years. Mrs. Lawshe was active in Girl Scout Leadership and taught Sunday School. She was an accomplished artist and a published poet and an award winning member of the CT Poetry Society. Mrs. Lawshe leaves her daughter, Susan Lawshe of West Hartford, a son, Thomas Capola and a daughter-in-law Angelica and two grandchildren, Cooper and Annabelle of Weston. She is survived by her brother Frank Fucci and sister-in-law Mona Fucci of San Diego, CA. and a sister Lois Fucci of North Haven. Janet was a devoted mother, sister, and friend. She sought and found beauty in the world around her and the people she loved. Her talent, her gentle touch, her voice- we will miss forever. A Funeral Service will be held at Hamden Plains United Methodist Church, 15 Church St., Hamden, on Thurs., March 2, 2006 at 10:30am. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Wed. March 1, from 4-8pm. Internment following the Service will be at Centerville Cemetery.
