Obituary

Jay L. Harkins, 56, of Meriden, loving and beloved son of William J. Harkins and Faith Tripp Harkins passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2022. Brother of Karen H. (Dwayne) DiDiego of Waltham, MA and Heather Harkins and her husband Ted Bliman of Buffton, SC. Uncle of Acadia Bliman, Jordan Bliman and Samuel DiDiego. Nephew of Pat Harkins, Marie Etter, Michael Harkins and Ruth (Art) Black.
Jay was born in Milford June 16, 1966 and had resided in Meriden since 1972. He earned a B.S.degree in Engineering from the University of New Haven. He worked at Canberra, Honeywell and currently at Fastenal Holo-Krome in Wallingford.
Much of Jay's adult life was in volunteer service; providing audio-visual and technical assistance to the New Life Church in Wallingford and First Congregational Church in Cheshire. He designed and supported computer management systems for Master's Manna Food Pantry in Wallingford. Jay was always there with words or acts of kindness for anyone in need. He was a devoted family member and lifetime friend to his niece and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday, September 19th from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, and may attend a prayer service at 12 noon in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, followed by interment at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org .
