Jean C. Haglind, age 80, of Hamden passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. Wife of James B. Haglind, Jean is also survived by her daughters, Barbara Haglind of Raymond, NH, LeAnn Beland and her husband James of Wolcott and Carol Caruso and her husband Thomas of White Plains, NY. In addition to her daughters, Jean is also survived by 3 grandchildren, a sister Lois Zimmerschied and her husband Philip of Alexandria, MN and a brother Lloyd Washburn and his wife Marilyn of Isle, MN. A daughter of the late Carl and Jenny Solie Washburn, Jean was born in Minneapolis, MN on April 17, 1930. She had been employed in the billing dept. at Diagnostic Medical Lab in Branford. A long time member of Christ Lutheran Church, Jean held various board level positions in the Lutheran Church Women's organization, including president and, most recently, as the treasurer. Her community service included being a Brownie leader with the Girl Scouts, a tutor and tutor trainer in the Literacy Volunteers program, a member of Gideons International and the Scandinavian Women's Chorus of CT. Jean also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Scrabble and Bridge. Friends may visit with her family on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 4-7 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden and are invited to go directly to Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 10 AM to attend her Funeral Service.
