Jean Murdoch Warner, 94, formerly of Hamden, CT, passed away on June 24, 2026. She was born in West Haven, CT. Jean was the daughter of the late Robert Murdoch and Sarah (Alexander) Murdoch. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert T. Warner, Jr. for 59 years.
Jean leaves her children, Jeanne Kohutanycz and her husband Peter, Robert Warner and his wife Geraldine, and Jennifer Starrs, and her sister, Diane Barker. Jean also leaves eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face. Of these wonderful humans she was most proud.
After graduating from Radcliffe College (at Harvard University) in Cambridge, MA with a BA degree in Chemistry, she first worked at Canadian Industries Limited in Montreal, Canada while her husband attended McGill University. When the couple returned to CT, Jean was employed at Olin Corp. in New Haven, CT as an analytical chemist and technical writer. After a hiatus to raise her children, Jean returned to school to take courses in Computer Science. She worked most of her IT career at Aetna Health Plans in Middletown, CT until her retirement.
Jean enjoyed summering on Martha’s Vineyard as a child with her extended family, sailing on Long Island Sound with her husband, the comradery and activities with the New Haven Yacht Club, figure skating, and watching the UConn Women’s Basketball team in action.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul VI Parish-Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven, CT.
Contributions in her memory can be made by bestowing a kindness to another person or furry friend in need, either something tangible or a smile and a kind word.
