Jean E. (Tata) Zurolo, age 89, of Hamden passed away February 25, 2023 at Yale- New Haven Hospital with her two heartbroken daughters by her side. Born in New Haven on December 3, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Welda (Schreiter) Tata. Jean was the widow of John A. C. Zurolo and sister of the late Lois Papagoda. She is survived by her daughters, Joy and her husband James Pallman of Wallingford, and Joan and her husband Michael Caiafa of North Haven; grandchildren, John Acampora and his partner Cliff Tai, Michael Caiafa and Mark Caiafa; step-granddaughter Jill (Joe) Muzyka; and step-great-grandson John Muzyka. Jean was a resident of Hamden for most of her life. We wish to thank all the wonderful nurses who cared for our mom on the North Pavilion Ninth Floor MICU at YNHH-especially Dr. Seyedtaghi Takyar for his patience and compassion during our very difficult time. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to VITAS Hospice, who guided and supported us through our mom's final days. In addition, we wish to thank the third-floor staff at Whitney Manor for their care, particularly those who made special efforts to tend to our mom's needs.
Friends may attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3rd by going directly to St. Paul VI Parish/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave, Hamden. There will be no calling hours, and burial will be private with her family. Arrangements are in care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
