Joan D. Bates, 89, of Wallingford, wife of the late Robert N. Bates, passed away at MidState Medical Center on July 28, 2018 with family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on January 12, 1929 to the late Thomas and Louise Conklin Daniels. Joan will be missed by her daughters, Lynda Bates-Stepe (Atis Stepe) of Islip, NY and Lorraine Mayer (Charles Ferraiuolo) of Johnsonville, SC; grandchildren, Heather and Jonathan Mayer, Michael and Steven Ferraiuolo, Bethany and Tyler Bates, and Deanna Stepe. Predeceased by her children, Louise Ferraiuolo and James Bates; and her siblings, Louise, Robert, and John Daniels. Joan had been a member of the Branford United Methodist Church and enjoyed arts & crafts. She will be remembered as a women dedicated to her family. Friends are invited to join Joan's family on Friday, August 10th for a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. in the Hartog Building Auditorium in Ashlar Village, Masonicare, Wallingford. Burial will be private.
