John Joseph Cimino, 93, of Meriden, loving husband to the late Gabriella Slepski Cimino, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in New Haven on January 14, 1930, a son of the late Joseph and Carmelina Alberino Cimino. John leaves his children Gayle Cimino (Angelo), Wayne, Chrissy, and Steven Buck, brother Joseph Cimino, grandchildren; Michael, Gregory, Rachel, Sara, and Riely Buck, and great-grandchildren; Haley, Harper, and Peyton Buck. Besides his wife Gabriella, he was predeceased by his sons George Cimino and John Cimino, Jr., and siblings Lucille Cimino Lord, Louis Anthony Ruggiero, and Richard Cimino. John honorably served in the United States Army and Army National Guard for 22 years, having served in World War II and the Korean War, holding the rank of Cmd. Sergeant Major. He then went on to own and operate several local restaurants and bars until his retirement.
Friends are invited to visit with John's family on Wednesday, April 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 20th at 10:30 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to The Franciscan Life Center, 271 Finch Ave., Meriden, CT 06451, or by going to
