Obituary

John F. Cook, 93, of Wallingford, CT passed away on June 30, 2013 after a brief illness. He was born on October 28, 1919 in Bronx, NY. He proudly served in the US Navy, inducted into the Ancient Order of the Deep, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. John was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and an avid bowler. He was a 20 year veteran first baseman for the New Haven Americans, Mutt & Jeffs, Roessler's and Acme Chrome all of New Haven, CT with a lifetime batting average of .340. In 1989 he was inducted into the Connecticut Amateur Softball Association Fast Pitch Hall of Fame. He is survived by two daughters, Susan Colrus of Leesport, PA and Linda Smith of Brookfield, CT, sons-in-law Kurt Colrus of Leesport, PA and William Smith of Brookfield, CT and four grandchildren, Kimberly and Jeffrey Colrus of Leesport, PA and William and Jillian Smith of Brookfield, CT, step-sister Betty Paquin of New Haven, as well as his extended family at Skyview Center. Services will be private. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE, HAMDEN.
