Suddenly at home, Sept. 24, 2000, John ''Jack'' Hurlburt of 157 Thompson St.,Hamden. He was born in New Haven, June 5, 1947 loving son of Margaret Connors Hurlburt of Hamden and the late Edward Hurlburt, beloved brother-in-law of Jackie Harger Hurlburt of Cheshire, beloved brother of the late Eugene ''Hubbie'' Hurlburt, loving grandson of the late Matilda Connors. He served in Co B 242nd Engineering Battalion of the Army National Guard of Connecticut where he received the Expert Badge, Rifle M-14, Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle M-16 and the State Emergency Service Ribbon. He was a member of the the VFW Post 88 of Hamden. Funeral from Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.Rita Church at 9 am. Interment in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm. Contributions may be made to St. Rita School, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden 06517.
