John S. Kemble, 86 husband of Jean (Adie) Kemble passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Southington Care Center. He was born April 8, 1923 in New York City a son of the late Schyler and Florence (Johnston) Kemble. John attended the Pratt Institute in France for Art Studies and worked for Danbury Printing and Litho as an account executive. John's grandfather was E.W.Kemble, who illustrated Mark Twain's Hucklebery Finn, among other works. E.W. tutored John. He also loved to paint, many of his paintings are in people's homes as they would commission him to paint a favorite scene for them. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers, serving in the European Theater. Besides is wife Jean, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Bishop of Wildersville, TN and Heather Woiciechowski of Plantsville, one son, Bruce Kemble of New Fairfield, CT, a brother; Robert Kemble of Honolulu, HI, five grandchildren, Cheryl Koslowski, David Kemble, Johnathon, Michael and Matthew Crewse and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crewse and Shawn Kemble. He was predeceased by a sister June Nickel. Funeral services and burial will be private. The Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements.
