Obituary

Meriden- John A. Morytko, 80, beloved husband of 58 years to Jean (McCarthy) Morytko passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Ct. Hospice in Branford. He was born October 16, 1927 in Willimantic a son of the late Michael and Mary (Gula) Morytko. John honorably served his country in the U.S.Army as a military police officer. He was a graduate of University of Connecticut and continued to be a fan of their many sports. John was also a life long member of the Hunter Golf Club. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by three sons and their wives, J. Stephen and Mary Morytko of Ashford, CT, Andrew and Carol Morytko of Ludlow, VT and Jeremiah and Joanne (Pavlick) Morytko of Wallingford, seven grandchildren, Bryan and his wife Tamara Morytko, John D. and Benjamin Morytko, Kelly and her husband Josh Cooper, Megan Morytko, and Jason and Timothy Morytko and three great-grandsons, Drew, John Tyler and Blake Morytko. He also leaves a brother, Stanley and his wife Gertrude Morytko of Willimantic, and two sisters, Mildred Lucas of Durham and Victoria Postemsky of North Windham, CT. He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine Morytko, two brothers, Joseph and Emil Morytko and two sisters, Adele and Sophie Breault. A Catholic service will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 6 p.m. at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 3-6 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Brandford, CT 06405.
