Obituary

Joseph Edward Magyar, Sr., 95, husband of 69 years to Veronica Ivan Magyar, passed away on April 27, 2009 with family by his side. He was born in Bridgeport on March 16, 1914 to the late Gabriel and Julia Sedelmeyr Magyar. Besides his beloved wife, Joe is survived by his children, Barbara Allen of Milford, Joseph Magyar Jr. and his wife Christine of Orange, and James Magyar and his wife Karen of Medfield, MA. Grandchildren, Alisa Saracin, Kristin Albanese, Corey Nassef, Katherine Marchessault, Matthew Magyar, Sarah Magyar, and nine great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Helen Pavoni and her husband Enrico of Fairfield, sister-in-law Elizabeth Magyar of Fairfield and predeceased by his brother Anthony Magyar. Joe grew up in Bridgeport where he also raised his family and worked at the Bullard Machine Co. as a Tool & Dye maker. After retirement they moved to Boynton Beach Florida where they resided for 17 years. Since moving back to CT, Hamden has been their home for the last 13 years. Besides being a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Alhambras, Joe was always active in the different churches where he was a communicant. The family wishes to thank the staff at Arden House for their kindness and care of Joseph over the last 6 years. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rita's Church in Hamden on Monday, May 18th, at 11:00 followed by the interment in St. Michaels Cemetery in Stratford.
