In New Haven, Dec. 20, 2002, Joseph Schaffeld, 90, of 2 Koczak Ct., North Haven, husband for 62 years of Elizabeth Romanovsky Schaffeld, father of Carol Berube of Wallingford and grandfather of Thomas Berube of Denver, CO. Also survived by two nieces, Patty and her husband, Richard Carney of Hamden, Elaine and her husband, Jack Gaffney of Yorktown Heights, NY, a nephew, Harry and his wife, Marge Thibeault of Chicopee, MA. He was predeceased by a sister, Grace Anderson and a nephew, Bill Thibeault. He was born in New Haven, Oct. 4, 1912 son of the late Carl and Frances Schauble Schaffeld and had been a resident of North Haven since 1970. He had worked for many years at Marlin Firearms and retired as a foreman. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Mon. at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11 a.m. Friends may call Mon. from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
