Katherine J. Lipp, age 82, of West Haven, passed away on July 26, 2015. Born in New Haven on August 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Irving W. Smith & Katherine Darby Smith step daughter of the late Theresa Elmo Smith and former wife of Frank J. Lipp. A childhood resident of Hamden, Katherine was a longtime resident of West Haven and a devoted member of St. Lawrence Church. She is survived by cousins; John Oertel of Hamden, Jean Oertel of Wallingford, Albert Oertel of VT, Susan Smith & Nancy Fowler, both of FL, and Kenneth Smith & Beatrice Shepard, both of Guilford. Friends may visit with her family at Beecher & Bennett - Taylor Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Ave, West Haven on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM and may attend her Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Lawrence Church, 207 Main Street, West Haven. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden.
