Mrs. Kathleen B. Maloney, age 91, of 69 Harding Street Hamden, passed away October 18, 2009 in St. Raphael Hospital. She is the widow of Edward J. Maloney; mother of Edward J. Maloney Jr. of Branford, Richard & his wife Sandra Maloney of Hamden and the late Kathleen M. DePodesta; mother in law of Richard DePodesta of Hamden; grandmother of Brian DePodesta, Tricia Fradin, Kristin DePodesta, Patrick, Elizabeth & Ryan Maloney; great grandmother of Avery & Andrew DePodesta, Katie, Jenna & Jack Fradin; sister of Mary Hague of Hamden and the late Joseph & Harriett Kirby and John Beecher. Mrs. Maloney was born in New Haven on June 6, 1918, a daughter of the late David & Kathleen Stanford Beecher. A graduate of the Teacher's College (now SCSU), she was a retired Special Education Teacher for the Town of Hamden Public School System. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, a Past President of the Marion Guild, member of the New Haven Catholic Charity League, Mt. Carmel Woman's Club, New Haven Country Club and the Irish American Club. Mrs. Maloney's family would like to thank all of her caregivers for their services & compassion during her time of need. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at 10 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
