New Britain - Kenneth T. Grandy, 66 formerly of Meriden passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Ken resided with his brother and sister in Berlin. He was born May 11, 1943 in Meriden a son of the late Kenneth and Virginia (Coggins) Grandy. He graduated from Meriden High School and the New England School of Art. He had worked for the family business, JB Coggins Co. and later retired from Fosdick Corp.. Ken loved flowers, his gardens, decorating at Christmas and family trips to New York and Boston to see the Christmas decorations. He is survived by a brother, Stuart Grandy, a sister, Gayle Hettrick both of Berlin, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Grandy of Yalesville. He also leaves several nieces and nephews whom he had a special place in his heart for. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Grandy. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28 at 11:00 am at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Monday from 10 to 11am prior to the service.
