Obituary

Kevin Patrick Callahan, of Lighthouse Point, FL, and Bretton Woods, NH, formerly of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, surrounded by his family, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was employed for the past thirty-one years at Moran Yacht and Ship in Fort Lauderdale, FL. His job afforded him the opportunity to travel the world, where Kevin was well respected in the marine industry.

Kevin was born March 21, 1957, in New Haven, CT, and was a long-time resident of Hamden before moving to Florida. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming at the High Lane Club, vacationing in Wellfleet on Cape Cod, and learning about all makes of cars. He attended Saint Rita Grammar School and was a parishioner of Saint Rita Church, where he served as an altar boy. Kevin was a member of the Hamden High School class of 1975, where he was active in sports. He went on to graduate from Paul Smith College in upstate New York with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. While there, he had the opportunity to work at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. Upon graduation, Kevin worked for several years in the restaurant business in CT and MA. He then traveled to the Virgin Islands, where he worked at Maho Bay on St. John and also on St. Thomas. The opportunity to work with cars brought him back to CT, where he worked in sales for several years at Crest Lincoln Mercury.

Kevin loved being on the water boating and fishing, along with playing golf and skiing in Bretton Woods. He was passionate about youth sports and particularly enjoyed watching his boys play hockey and lacrosse. He rarely missed the opportunity to attend games at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH, and later at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT.

He is survived by his former wife, Lisa, and their four sons, Jack, Nolan, Timothy and Peter Callahan. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Mike) Johnston and his brothers, Francis III "Skip" (Kate) and Robert (Gretchen) Callahan, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Francis H. Callahan, Jr. and Eileen Coyle Callahan.

Kevin will be remembered as a kind, generous, spirited, engaging, and loving man who left a lasting impression on all he met. Fair winds and following seas KPC, until we meet again.
