Obituary

At his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, June 14, 2003, Leigh William Jackson, Sr., 62 of West Haven. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Mary Ann Kaliszewski Jackson and his devoted son, Leigh Jackson, Jr. of West Haven and a granddaughter, Kayla Marie Leigh of West Haven. Also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Alyce and William Benson of West Haven, a brother, Victor Jackson of Hamden and many close friends. Leigh was born in New Haven, July 12, 1940 a son of the late Victor and Elizabeth Jackson. He was a 4th generation New Haven Firefighter for 31 years retiring in 1995 due to illness. Leigh was in the 1st EMT graduating class in the State of CT and was also a paramedic. He served in the US Army and was a member of Trumbull Lodge # 22 A.F. & A.M., the Elks Club, American Legion and the Polish American Club all of West Haven. He was a stock car driver in West Haven in the 1960's and was an avid NASCAR fan. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his generous heart and last but not least his courage. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Enrico Khu for his support. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wed., June 18 at 11 a.m. at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven.
