Obituary

Lena L. DePalma, 94, formerly of Hamden, passed away at the Guilford House on September 12, 2017. Born in Orange on November 15, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Anna Esposo DellaCioppa Lombardi. Beloved wife of the late Louis J. DePalma. She is survived by her three children, Donna (Alphonse) Frangipane of Ormond Beach, FL, Anita (Albert) Pikosky of Edgewater, FL, and John (Susan) DePalma of Guilford; five grandchildren, Lisa, Gary, Nicole, Sarah, and Erica; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Jackson. Also survived by siblings August Lombardi of New Haven, Lucy Vanacore of East Haven, and Celia DePalma of Hamden. She is predeceased by her brothers, Frank and John Lombardi, and sisters, Minnie Porto and Mary Lombardi. Lena was an avid reader and bowler. She loved to cook and play cards. She also enjoyed watching tennis matches and the Yankees baseball and UCONN Women's basketball games. Above all, Lena loved her family, and the time they spent together will be forever cherished. Her family would like to thank the Hamden Fire Dept and AMR for all their help. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Lena's life on Saturday, September 16th at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Contributions in Lena's memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
