Leonard Everett Dorman, 88, died on December 5, 2017 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. He was reunited with the love of his life, Phyllis James Dorman, to whom he had been married for 54 years. Father of Sharon (David) Ormstedt of Bloomington, IN, Wendy (Frank) Willis of Bluffton, SC, Andrew (Lynne) Dorman of Cheshire, and Alicia (Keith) Nieforth of Randolph, NJ. Grandfather to Sarah Titzer, Erin Brown, David Ormstedt, Jr., Keri, Stacey, & Matthew Willis, Megan Willis-Bush, Chad, Jeffrey, Christopher, & Abby-Lyn Dorman, and Leanne & Julia Nieforth. Great-grandfather to Jack & Nicholas Titzer, Gabrielle & Gavin Punko, Julian Bush, and Ryan Willis, plus two more on the way. Brother to Harold Dorman, Emily Moody, Lillian Rawling, and seven previously deceased siblings. Leonard was born in New Haven on August 4, 1929, a son to the late Leonard A. and Emily Geir Dorman. Leonard had been a master carpenter for over 65 years and had a hand in remodeling his children's homes many years after personally building his own home. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and for 50 years was a member of the Mix District Volunteer Fire Dept. Leonard was lovingly known as the Energizer Bunny and will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Monday, December 11th at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10 a.m. followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamden.
