Lew Allen Dumond, age 66, of Hamden, passed away September 12, 2016. Born in New Haven on August 2, 1950 he was a son of the late George E. & Charlotte (Allen) Dumond. Lew is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy (Argraves) Dumond; his sister Lila Boschee of Great Falls, MT; his brother Barrett M. Stack of Stillwater, MN and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Sharon Yavis. Lew was a resident of Hamden for the last 20 years, and previously lived in West Haven & East Haven. He was a self employed master carpenter, who loved working with his hands. Lew liked watching NASCAR and the NY Yankees, working in his yard and cooking on the grill. He loved going to the beach, camping and trivia. Lew enjoyed listening to country music and playing his guitar, he did a marvelous rendition of James Taylor's 'Cooper Line'. He most enjoyed celebrating the holidays and special times with friends. His dry wit was legendary and his friendship unsurpassed. Nancy would like to thank the Smilow Cancer Hospital staff for their kindness, care and support during this very difficult time. Relatives and friends may visit with Lew's family on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. During this time his Prayer Service will take place at 7:30 PM. Interment will be private.
