Obituary

Lois W. Miller, 80, wife of the late William P. Miller, Jr., passed away surrounded by her loving family at Masonic Care Hospice January 4th, 2012. Lois was a resident of Whitney Manor in Hamden and formerly lived in Bella Vista in New Haven. Prior to Bella Vista, Lois resided in Cromwell and North Haven. She was born in Hartford November 3rd, 1931, a daughter of the late George and Marie Rice Wilson. Lois received her Bachelor's Degree from the New Haven State Teachers College and a Master's Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State College in 1975. Lois was an elementary school teacher in Hamden at Church Street School and Newhall Street School. While at Bella Vista she had many friends and enjoyed a rich social life. She loved playing bingo, being the score keeper for bocci and could always be found listening to her favorite musician Andre Rieu. She was a devoted mother to her children and their spouses, Deborah M. Ferguson of New Haven, Robin and Mark Curcio of North Haven, Alison and Will Crowe of Hamden, David and Sally Miller of Bristol and Gary and Laura Miller of Hamden. Beloved grandmother (Meme) of Kyle Miller, Maxwell and Samantha Curcio, Bailey, Katelyn and Collin Crowe. Loving sister of Joyce Kibbe of Scituate, MA. She was predeceased by a son in law Robert Ferguson, sisters Helen Sullivan, Mary Sullivan, Jeanne Miller, Barbara Danzell and her brother George Wilson. The family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Manor for the wonderful care they provided during her time there. The family would also like to thank the staff at Masonic Care Hospice for their compassion, kindness and excellent care. FUNERAL - from Beecher & Bennett 2300 Whitney Avenue., Hamden, Monday January 9th at 10:30am. Mass of Christian burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11am. Prior to the mass at the church, a memorial service will held at the funeral home at 9:45 am. Friends may call Sunday January 7th from 4pm to 7pm. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery.
