Lucien P. 'Red' LaRose, age 86, of 592 Center St. Wallingford, passed away at his home on May 27, 2009. Red is the husband of Juliette Cloutier LaRose; father of Christine L. Winter & her husband David of Newport, NY, Elaine L. Aszklar and her husband Richard of Wallingford, Paul P. LaRose and his longtime companion Roberta Tiberski of Northford and the late Donald R. LaRose; grandfather of Jennifer Marshall, Kathryn Kubeck, James Kubeck and Zachary Aszklar; great grandfather of Gavyn & Jackson Marshall; brother of Gaston (Sarah) LaRose, Robert (Mildred) LaRose, Cecile Federovitch, Roger (Jayne) LaRose, Anita Kowall, Zita (Larry) Bishop all of Canada and the late Georgette Dean and Teresa McEachern. Red also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Born in Black Lake Quebec, Canada on December 1, 1922 he was a son of the late Onezime and Marie Ange Mercier LaRose. Red was a member of the 1st Canadian Paratroop Btl. during WWII. He was captured on D-Day in 1944 in Germany and subsequently was a POW until the end of the war. Moving from Canada in 1953 he was employed by International Silver Co. until his retirement in 1979. He later worked for Rex Forge in Southington, Total Performance in Wallingford as well as his many self employed activities. He is was member of the Wallingford Knights of Columbus, Past District Deputy, Past Faithful Navigator and Past Grand Knight and he was a member of the 2nd Co. Governors Foot Guard, the Wallingford Elks and Commander of the Hamden-North Haven AM-Vets. Post 9 for 15 years. Red also played the drums for Gunter & the Happy Wanderers for many years. He recently played the drums at the Wallingford Senior Center as part of the Survivors. Red always enjoyed a game of golf, playing whenever he had a chance with one or more of his many friends; and a stop at the 19th hole was always appreciated. Red was always there to help whenever he could. He enjoyed playing Santa Clause on every Christmas Eve visiting the homes of his many friends. Red's family would like to thank the VA Medical Center in West Haven, Doctors and Staff and Masonic Hospice Home Care and a special Angel Judy. Red's funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Saturday, May 30 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Most Holy Trinity Church, Wallingford. Friends may also visit with his family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford.
