Lucille Roberta Bradley Oestreicher, loving mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2015 in Hamden, at the age of 94. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest child and only daughter of George L. and Elizabeth Hines Bradley. She was a graduate of New Haven College for Women. Also, to her great pride, she was one of the first students accepted to Yale's Special Students Program when it was established in the 1980s. She was predeceased in 1971 by Gerald Keith Oestreicher, her husband of more than twenty years. After his passing, she bravely continued on alone to raise their two children, Bradley and Karen. Although they had lived all over the world following Gerry's business career, Lucille always considered Connecticut her home and returned here with her children where she spent the remainder of her years. Lucille loved poetry and politics and was an ardent fan of the Yale Bulldogs and her own personal bulldogs, Brahma and Butch. She was also a firm believer in justice and fairness for all, and was a woman ahead of her time in her support of women's rights. She deeply loved the pets who shared her home over the years, in particular the lifelong succession of cats named 'Minnie', the last of whom continues to reside with her daughter Karen. Lucille was predeceased by her three older brothers, George R. Bradley, Edmund L. Bradley, and Elihu F. Bradley. She is survived by her son and his wife, Bradley and Wendy Oestreicher, their daughter and her very special granddaughter Gretchen Oestreicher, of Wallingford; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Caffrey of Manchester, and many caring nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 6th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Orange Congregational Church followed by a burial in Orange Center Cemetery.
