Hamilton, Lucinda Elizabeth Brown Lucinda Elizabeth Hamilton, age 99, formerly of Hamden, passed away in Richmond VA on November 13, 2008. Lucinda was the widow of Russell G. Hamilton, Sr,, mother of Barbara Hamilton Black of Richmond, VA, Marjorie Hamilton Guess of East Windsor, CT, Russell G. Hamilton, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN & Randall E. Hamilton of Southbury, CT. Lucinda also leaves 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Lucinda was born in West Haven, CT on Aug. 6, 1909 a daughter of the late Randall and Bertha Van Derveer Brown, Sr, was a graduate of Hillhouse High School class of 1929 and a longtime New Haven resident before moving to Hamden. She was a secretary for the New Haven School System working at the Sheriden Middle and Hillhouse High Schools. Lucinda was a member of the former Dixwell Community Center, the Afro-American Historical Society & the Friends & Parents of Southbury Training School and was part of the Dixwell Community House Alumni Association. She also was an artist and amateur photographer. Her funeral service will take place in BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday November 21, 2008 at 12 Noon. Friends may also visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11 AM until the service. Burial will follow in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
